Along with Quan Ba, Meo Vac, and Dong Van Districts, Yen Minh is part of the Ha Giang Loop, one of the most beautiful and challenging mountain routes in the world.
Located within the grand Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, Yen Minh’s landscape is quintessentially mountainous, with imposing rocky peaks that gently surround charming ethnic villages. On the hillsides of Yen Minh, visitors will be overwhelmed by the breathtaking panorama of the terraced fields and pine forests stretching as far as the eye can see, blending with the evergreen tropical primeval forests.
This remarkable natural beauty has dubbed Yen Minh the “Princess” of Ha Giang’s rugged stone landscape.
Yen Minh District is located just shy of 100 kilometers east of Ha Giang City. The journey to Yen Minh will be the easiest along the National Highway 4C, also known as the Happiness Road. When you pass the famous Quan Ba Heaven Gate and Twin Mountains, Yen Minh is just 30 kilometers further.
Although it is a national highway, the road to Yen Minh features challenging, winding sections along the mountainside, causing difficulties for those with little experience driving here. Therefore, the best choice is to either rent a car with a professional driver or join a package tour that departs from Hanoi to Ha Giang.
Fola Travel simplifies your Ha Giang adventure with all-inclusive Ha Giang Loop tours to Yen Minh, Quan Ba, Dong Van, and more. Our packages cover transportation, accommodation, and meals, ensuring a comfortable and memorable trip without any hassle.

As a mountainous district, Yen Minh enjoys fresh, cool air throughout the year, offering beautiful sights and serene spots for visitors at any time. However, the period from November to March (late winter to early spring) is exceptionally popular.
This is when the hillsides of Yen Minh burst with the vibrant blossoms of buckwheat flowers, creating a truly majestic and romantic scene that draws tourists from all over to Ha Giang.
Entering Yen Minh, the first sight to greet you is the lush green pine hills, where every tree stands tall and proud, seemingly touching the sky. This verdant pine forest forms a serene barrier, shutting out the urban bustle and replacing it with an immediate feeling of calm and tranquility.
From within the pine forest, you can take in the vast Yen Minh landscape, from the mountains and forests to the Tay ethnic homes nestled beside beautiful terraced fields.
Located right on National Highway 4C, Yen Minh Town welcomes visitors with its signature misty pine forests, the dramatic distant mountains, and the winding roads with countless hairpin bends connecting one another.
In recent years, Yen Minh Town has embraced its ‘green urban’ vision, with new high-rise structures and a significant investment in luxurious motels and hotels, firmly establishing it as an ideal and comfortable stopover for all Ha Giang travelers.
Besides Yen Minh Pine Hill, Du Gia Village is also one of the destinations that travel enthusiasts often visit on their journey to conquer the Ha Giang Loop.
Renowned for its serene atmosphere and wild, authentic landscapes, Du Gia is a place where you can truly connect with local culture through engaging activities: catching stream fish, soaking in waterfalls, or simply wandering around the village to admire the scenery and learn about local life.
This striking slope is part of Happiness Road connecting Yen Minh to Pho Cao Town of Dong Van, standing out with dangerous bends at the foot of rocky mountains. Tham Ma Pass is an excellent place to pull over, rest, and snap some artistic photos with Yen Minh’s wild mountains and forests as your backdrop.
Yen Minh Market is a must-experience spot, but remember it’s held only on Sundays.
Before sunrise, the market buzzes with activity as Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, and other ethnic groups arrive in their vibrant traditional dress to trade and socialize. The food stalls in the market are great stops where you can enjoy local specialties while immersing yourself in the bustling atmosphere of highland culture.
Na Luong Cave is situated in Mau Long Commune, about 25 kilometers from the center of Yen Minh District.
Discovered in 2010, it’s considered one of Ha Giang’s most beautiful caves. The entrance to Na Luong Cave is up to 30m wide, partly covered by ancient precious trees, and leads visitors into a realm of colorful stalactites, sculpted into breathtaking and intriguing formations.
Tucked deep within a rocky cliff in Yen Minh district, En Cave remains a wild and hidden gem in Ha Giang, largely untouched by human interference.
As its name suggests (‘En’ meaning swallow), this cave is a thriving haven for swallows. Inside, the cave ceiling is high and wide, while below, there is a small, crystal-clear blue lake surrounded by tall limestone cliffs. The mysterious beauty of En Cave captivates every visitor who comes here.
Dong Van, a familiar stop of the Ha Giang Loop, is a rugged, mountainous district that’s an absolute must-see for any traveler. It’s home to Vietnam’s most iconic landmarks, including the Lung Cu Flagpole, the historic Dong Van Ancient Town, and the magnificent Nho Que River.
Nestled alongside Dong Van, Meo Vac District impresses tourists with a charming landscape and rustic ethnic villages, providing a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditions and way of life of the highland people.
Quan Ba serves as the initial introduction to Ha Giang along the famed Happiness Road. Its winding routes gracefully trace the mountainsides, offering travelers an awe-inspiring panorama of undulating hills and villages below.
