Trung Trang Cave is tied to many intriguing local tales. One is this: In the old days, the lovely Cat Ba Island was threatened many times by foreign invaders. At the time, the Trung Trang Empress rose up to lead everyone in fighting the invaders, before retreating to a cave deep inside the forest. To honor and thank the Empress, the villagers named this cave after her: Trung Trang Cave.

Aside from fascinating historical myths, the Trung Trang Grotto draws visitors with its distinct and appealing natural beauty. As you move deeper into the cave, you will see hundreds of natural stalactites, each with its own shape and narrative, that have existed for millions of years.
