Thung Nham Bird Garden

It is not an exaggeration to say that the iconic bird garden is what makes the reputation of Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area.

This is the largest natural bird garden in northern Vietnam, home to more than 40 bird species with thousands of individuals, from storks, herons, magpies… to rare birds such as cranes and ground phoenixes.

The birds living here seem to have a natural convention about territory. On the high cliffs are species of cranes and egrets; in the medium-sized bamboo bushes are the habitat of white storks, while the herons share nests in the reed bushes, close to the water surface.

Visitors to Thung Nham Bird Garden can walk or, more interestingly, get on a bamboo boat to experience the outstanding beauty of this place. Gliding slowly along the cool water, watching cute birds nestling in the fresh treetops, or flocks of birds flying and filling the sky – these are unique, unforgettable experiences that you can hardly find anywhere else!

Vai Gioi Cave

Vai Gioi Cave, the first and largest cave in Thung Nham, is only around 200 meters from the entrance and has a fairytale-like beauty. After climbing 439 stairs, from the cave entrance up the mountain, tourists are treated to a breathtaking vista of the Thung Nham mountains and forests.

Entering the cave, a vast space opens up before visitors’ eyes, as if they have just entered an unreal world. Vai Gioi Cave is separated into three big compartments, in the order of “earth”, “hell”, and “heaven”, with layers of stalactites of all shapes and sizes, sparkling under the light.

With an area of ​​up to 5000 square meters and a long history of formation, Vai Gioi Cave is not only valuable in terms of landscape but also a sacred spiritual location for local people.

But Cave

But Cave is a 500-meter-long water cave that connects Thung Nham to Thien Ha Cave in Ninh Binh. Here, visitors will take a boat to explore the cave, along the emerald green river flowing under a system of stalactites growing in myriad shapes, magically changing under human imagination.

But Cave is often compared to an intriguing natural museum that features expertly crafted sculptures created by nature.

Mermaid Cave

When visiting Thung Nham, one should not miss Mermaid Cave, a natural karst cave of breathtaking beauty.

To explore Mermaid Cave, visitors need to walk along a bamboo bridge through the mountain. Between the colorful stalactites hanging like chandeliers, along with the underground stream meandering under the bridge, the space of Mermaid Cave opens up like the bottom of the ocean, mysterious and tinged with a fairy tale’s charm. This is what inspired the name of the cave!

Spiritual Hill

The spiritual hill, located in the heart of the Thung Nham eco-tourism area, is where travelers gather to pray for good fortune and happiness.

Located at the top of the hill is Goi Dai Temple, a spiritual destination that combines different cultural beliefs of the Vietnamese people. The temple is built in the Dinh-shaped architecture popular in ancient Vietnamese pagodas, with many decorative, carved stone details that are extremely sophisticated and vivid.

Opposite to Goi Dai Temple is the Linh Than Temple and the Moving Banyan Tree area.

The banyan tree at Thung Nham is 1000 years old and is currently at the end of step three and the beginning of step four in “moving”, a natural yet magical developing process of banyans. This also explains why the tree is known as the “Moving Banyan Tree”.

Linh Than Temple can be found beneath the banyan tree. This famous shrine is related to the story of Viet Vuong Saint, a skilled general who assisted King Dinh Bo Linh in defeating the twelve warlords. Moved by his contribution and merit, King Dinh built a temple for him in Thung Nham.

Flower Island

A new attraction in the Southeast of Thung Nham’s eco-tourism area is a flower paradise with two major flower hills measuring up to 800 square meters. Each flower hill is separated into six stories, with each tier growing different kinds of flowers. Visitors to the flower islands will be blown away by the stunning beauty and alluring aroma here.

At the same time, this is an excellent location for travelers who enjoy taking photographs, because what can be a better background than a vibrant flower field?!? Thung Nham has the following bloom seasons each year:

• May, June, July: Chrysanthemum, Moss Rose, Periwinkle…
• August, September, October: garland chrysanthemum, Rose, Wild Sunflower…
• November, December: Golden Chrysanthemum, Peony, Golden Mustard Rose, Buckwheat…

Orchards

In addition to the floral islands, Thung Nham boasts a beautiful orchard with a variety of plants such as lychee, persimmon, mango, and guava, where you can freely select and try seasonal fruits for free:

• January, February: Apple.
• March, April: Star apple, papaya, and mulberry.
• May, June, July: Tropical fruits such as lychee, longan, mango…
• August: Persimmon, custard apple, guava…
• September, October, November, December: Orange and grapefruit.

Tam Coc

Tam Coc is the main attraction in the Tam Coc – Bich Dong Tourism Area, which features water caverns concealed behind rocky limestone rocks. Visitors can take a boat and enjoy a relaxing time drifting around the lake in the gorgeous natural surroundings.

Mua Caves

Mua Caves is an outstanding location with breathtaking mountains and scenery. The Mua Caves Overlook provides a beautiful view of the Tam Coc – Bich Dong Ecotourism Area.

Thai Vi Temple

This is a distinctive spiritual destination in Tam Coc where you may learn about Ninh Binh’s history and culture.

Bich Dong Pagoda
