Tourists visiting Ha Long Bay will have the most unforgettable experiences in Thien Cung Cave, which has been described as an underground palace. What is special about this cave? Let’s explore it with Fola Travel!
Thien Cung Cave is located on the picturesque Dau Go Island, southwest of Ha Long Bay. The journey from Ha Long Port to Thien Cung Cave is just around 4 kilometers and is part of the cruise route to visit Bay No. 1, making it a popular tourist attraction.
If you don’t know, the name Ha Long Bay (descending dragon) is based on a mythology about the Mother Dragon guiding her offspring down to the ground to aid the Vietnamese people in their struggle against foreign invaders. The Mother Dragon’s pearls formed magnificent limestone islands on the sea’s surface. Thien Cung Cave, in particular, is where the Dragon Prince’s wedding happened, and the imprints on the cave walls are thought to have been left by dancing dragons.
Thien Cung Cave is often regarded as the most magnificent cave in Ha Long Bay, second only to Sung Sot Cave.
The name Thien Cung, meaning “Sky Palace,” was inspired by the special structure of the cave.
Thien Cung Cave, which spans up to 10,000 square meters, is separated into several compartments with a system of ceilings and walls constructed of exquisite stalactites. The cave as a whole resembles a limestone castle, with a phosphorescent membrane producing magnificent light, much like a celestial palace on Earth.
The first section of Thien Cung Cave is impressive, with four walls that resemble four large-scale artworks. The stalactite clusters roll and dissolve, resulting in gentle, vibrant pictures of dancing fairies.
The cave’s central chamber is distinguished by a massive stone pillar sculpted by Mother Nature into meandering patterns, and the dome is adorned with a system of stalactites hanging down like a stone curtain. This is also the most significant part of Thien Cung Cave, where tourists enjoy taking beautiful pictures.
As you continue within, you will arrive at the cave’s last chamber, unique with its clear stagnant pond. Walking around Thien Cung cave, you can hear the sound of running water combined with the whisper of the wind hitting the rocks, creating a joyful song that welcomes tourists.
To visit Thien Cung Cave, travelers must purchase a ticket to Ha Long Bay Route 1, which costs around $12 per person. If you book a cruise through the Fola Travel website, the tour fee will be included in the overall price of the ship, and you will receive the best care while seeing the lovely sights in Ha Long Bay.
