Tam Coc

Tam Coc (translated into Sino-Vietnamese as “three caverns”) is a well-known picturesque complex that includes three natural caves named Hang Ca (Ca means first), Hang Hai (Hai means second), and Hang Ba (Ba means third). These caves are formed by the gentle Ngo Dong River eroding through the foot of limestone mountains over the years.

Visitors to Tam Coc will ride a bamboo boat rowed by locals along Ngo Dong River, winding between gorgeous rocky hillsides and passing through mysterious water caves.

Thien Huong Cave, located on Dong Vo Mountain, is like a big bell piercing the mountain range. Inside Thien Huong Cave, visitors will see the temple of Mrs. Tran Thi Dung, who was the wife of King Ly Hue Tong. She was the one who passed on the embroidery craft to the people of Ninh Hai commune, so they constructed a temple to honor her and show their appreciation.

Bich Dong – Bich Dong Pagoda

Bich Dong is a dry cave situated about 2 kilometers from Tam Coc wharf, also known as “Nam Thien De Nhi Dong” due to the harmonious beauty of the mountains and rivers. To enter Bich Dong, guests will ride a boat via Xuyen Thuy Dong, a water cave where majestic stalactites form a beautiful natural scene.

The ancient Bich Dong Pagoda is located across the entrance of Xuyen Thuy Dong and leans on the Truong Yen limestone mountain range. Today, the pagoda still houses a massive bell made during King Le Thai To’s reign, as well as the tombs of the monks who helped build it.

Tien Cave

Tien Cave is a stunning dry cave located about 1 kilometer from Bich Dong Pagoda. It has an outstanding system of stalactites in various unusual formations hanging from the cave ceiling.

Linh Coc Pagoda

On the peaceful Chua Moc Mountain lies Linh Coc Pagoda, facing a vast lake in the west. The pagoda is designed with three parts, where the statues of the holy monks and the Three Holy Mothers, Mau Thuong Ngan, Mau Thoai, and Mau Lieu Hanh, are worshipped.

These are tourist routes that were once part of Tam Coc – Bich Dong, but have since been divided into a tourism region with its own Management Board.
