Location & How to get to Du Gia

Du Gia Commune is nestled deep in the mountains and forests of Yen Minh, so it’s only accessible by private car or motorbike.

After reaching Ha Giang, from the city center, you’ll travel approximately 70 kilometers along the road from Bac Me to Yen Minh District, and from there come to Du Gia. Do note that this road has many bends across the mountainside and bumpy, rocky roads, so explore it only if you are a confident and experienced driver.

Despite the difficulty on the mountain roads of Ha Giang, visitors will be rewarded with the most spectacular view of green hills and rice fields interspersed with blooming buckwheat flower fields.

From the rocky cracks, the powerful stream of water falls from a height of about 6 meters into a cool, bubbly white lake. From the top of the waterfall, visitors can soak in the enchanting panorama of Du Gia’s mountains and forests, blending with the clouds and sky.

For those with an adventurous spirit, jumping off Tham Luong Waterfall offers an exhilarating experience not to be missed. However, visitors need to be careful as the lake is quite deep and has many boulders that can be dangerous.

Du Gia Commune is a vibrant community of nine ethnic groups: Mong, Dao, Tay, Xuong, and more, living across 14 villages. These villages offer a simple, rustic charm with tiled-roof stilt houses nestled amidst green fields stretching across the valley.

From early morning, ethnic residents dress up nicely in their intricate garments and head to the market. Once inside, visitors will be overwhelmed by the variety of items for sale, from pigs, chickens, and vegetables, to highland specialties such as stream fish and wild bamboo shoots. The air buzzes with sounds of laughter, chatter, and noisy calls to each other, creating a uniquely vibrant scene.
