Day 1: Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Du Gia, approx. 120 km drive
▾Morning:
Have an early breakfast at the homestay to leave before 8 a.m.
Our journey begins with the Happiness Road, which spans approximately 200 kilometers across the Quan Ba Twin Mountains, traversing the Dong Van Karst Plateau before reaching Heaven’s Gate and the Fairy Twin Mountains.
Noon:
We relax at Tam Son, a little village with a serene ambiance. Have lunch at a neighborhood diner that serves rustic yet tasty food.
Afternoon:
Continuing along the road, we depart deeper into the mountains of Ha Giang, finally arriving at Du Gia village. This charming village is tucked away among the untamed hills and is popular for its tranquil natural beauty.
Here, during our stay in the homes of ethnic families, we have a delectable dinner feast and hear fascinating tales from locals about their vibrant culture.
Day 2: Du Gia – Meo Vac – (Ma Pi Leng) – Dong Van approx. 110 km drive
▾Morning:
After breakfast, we bid our goodbyes to the kind villagers of Du Gia and go north, passing through the splendid mountain ranges. Enjoy the thrilling, crisp air as the motorbike travels amidst Ha Giang’s gorgeous nature.
Noon:
We stop at Meo Vac, a charming town renowned for its distinctive rocky mountain landscape and lively local celebrations. Here, we’ll have a delectable meal with a variety of local favorites.
Afternoon:
Leaving Meo Vac, we slowly travel to the famous Ma Pi Leng pass, a risky yet fascinating route. The exhilarating feeling of successfully completing this pass is unbelievable!
Evening:
We spend the evening at the old village of Dong Van, Vietnam’s northernmost point.
Here, we can trek to Lung Cu Flagpole to take in the breathtaking panoramic vistas of the mountains and rice terraces overflowing with clouds. After that, we will visit Dong Van Ancient Town, which offers many engaging local activities.
Dinner and bed will be arranged at a nearby hotel or homestay.
Day 3: Dong Van – Sa Phin – Yen Minh – Nam Dam, approx. 150 km drive
▾Morning:
Dong Van Market is extremely bustling, with many people visiting every Sunday morning, so if you are in Ha Giang at this time, attending the market before or after breakfast is a must.
We will hit the road after hanging out and shopping at the market. Today’s first stop is Sa Phin Village, where you will visit the ancient palace of the H’mong King.
Next, we will travel along the Dong Van Karst Plateau road to Yen Minh Town. Here, we will rest and have lunch before continuing the journey.
Afternoon:
Through the mountain roads among the Yen Minh pine forests, we reach the beautiful Sung La Valley and, from there, head towards the small village of Nam Dam.
Here, we will stay at a homestay of a Dao family and enjoy a scrumptious dinner with them.
Day 4: Nam Dam – Lung Khuy – Tam Son – Ha Giang, approx. 70 km drive
▾Eat breakfast in Nam Dam Village and explore the simple life of the local people before returning on the journey.
We will visit Lung Khuy Cave in Quan Ba, a wonderful spot that is considered the most beautiful cave in Ha Giang.
Lunch will take place in Tam Son Town, and we will visit sites outside the Ha Giang Loop that are beautiful in nature before returning to Happiness Road and arriving in Ha Giang City, ending this 4-day adventure.
